WordPress SEO done properly

WordPress is a fine foundation for visibility, provided it is set up properly. In practice I mostly see sites with slow themes, stacks of plugins, half configured SEO tools and copy without a plan. A shame: with the same site and the right setup it could do far better. The official WordPress documentation explains the basics; I make sure your site actually reaches them.

WordPress SEO: what I optimise

Technology: the engine bay

  • Templates and blocks: a tidy heading structure (one H1, logical H2 and H3) in your theme and page builder
  • Indexing and redirects: what does and does not belong in Google, and redirects without chains
  • Technical maintenance: advice on updates, caching and safe further development after delivery
  • Speed and clean code: messy code makes a site slow and hard for bots to read. My own site is the showcase: measure it if you like.
  • Schema.org: tells Google and AI exactly what you are: company, services, FAQ, reviews.
  • llms.txt, sitemap, tidy URLs: the signposting for search engines and AI bots.

Content: what it says

  • Landing pages per search term, concentrated on the one topic your customer is searching for.
  • Keywords worked in naturally: readable for people, understandable for machines. No AI slop.
  • Meta titles and descriptions: what people see in the search results, before your site itself.
  • Alt texts, internal links, consistency in prices and details.

About plugins: honest advice

The best SEO plugin? Yoast is fine: provided it is set up properly, and it rarely is. More important than which plugin: not too many plugins. Every unnecessary plugin costs speed and adds risk. A plugin ticks boxes; it does not choose keywords, write copy or repair slow code. The difference between “SEO plugin installed” and “actually being found” is exactly the work I do.

Frequently asked questions

My WordPress site is slow. Does that hurt SEO?

Yes, slowness costs positions and visitors. Often the theme, the images and unnecessary plugins are the culprits; I cover that in the Visibility Scan.

Can I keep editing pages myself after your work?

Yes, that is the idea. I build with standard WordPress tools and show you at handover how to keep the copy and pages up to date yourself.

My site is not in WordPress. Can you still help?

The Visibility Scan works on any site. WordPress is my starting point: if your site already runs on it, I adjust it; if it runs on another platform, I rebuild it in WordPress, open and transferable, so it can be maintained by whoever you choose. That is included in every package. Prefer to have the work carried out elsewhere? Then you buy the Visibility Plan of € 250 and take it to your own builder.
